Stop making their common Instagram Reels Mistakes and Blow Up Your Account!

When running your business as an entrepreneur (or solopreneurs), sometimes we may be making big oopsies without even knowing,  (I know I was guilty of this when I started creating Reels). So I wanna share some tips I wish I knew when I had started playing around with Instagram Reels as form of content marketing!

Instagram Reels for Business

If you haven’t been living under a rock, by now I’m sure you’ve heard or have seen some Instagram Reels pop up in your feed. Instagram Reels is short-form video content you can create with graphics or video and can add things like music and text to enhance your content. Instagram Reels has gained popularity as one of the surefire “hack” to grow your Instagram!

It’s a great way to get more eyeballs on your content and grow fans and followers for your business. But there are definitely some no-no’s when it comes to reels, to really take advantage of the power of reels to skyrocket your business on Instagram.

Reels Mistakes You Might Be Making

I’m sure by now you know the importance of using content creation as a marketing tool for your business, so I believe if you’re gonna do it, it’s better to get it right!

As we all know Instagram changes its algorithm and features constantly, and it is our job to stay up to date with it, but they also give us slight hints on what to do and what not to do.

So since reels have started to become this simple tool to increase visibility and grow your Instagram, I want to share with you the mistakes that you might be making with your reels and that is holding you back from seeing the boost in engagement and growth in your account and business (because they’re actually avoidable!).

Let’s dive right in!!

Trends are good, but don’t let it overpower you!

Okay, now what do I mean by this? Using trending songs and sounds is a great way to increase your Reels visibility, but you don’t want it to be the majority of your content. Your Reel still has to be relevant for your niche audience, so don’t just pick something because it’s popular, and as always create your content with your audience in mind!!

Reels that are bad quality

And this is a mistake that can be easily avoided! Just make sure that before you film that your camera lens is clean and that it doesn’t have a smudge on the lens can cause your reels to be blurry. Also, make sure that you have good lighting, this will also eliminate blurriness. And if you’re doing lip-synchs make sure you don’t miss a beat, otherwise, you end up with mismatched video and audio, and that ain’t cute!

Using too much text in your Reels

You don’t want your audience to pause the reel just so that they can read your text, this is just frustrating! Reels are supposed to be quick and easy-to-digest info for your audience, so make sure your text is short and sweet, and easy to read! If you want to offer more details, try adding the text “read caption” in your Reels.

Copying other people’s content

There is nothing wrong with looking at others’ content t get inspiration and ideas, as well as using the same trending songs as they do, but there are some people who are “copying and pasting” other people’s content and that is NOT OK! Being a copycat never works out, it’s just not worth it!

Remember your audience is drawn to you for your particular brand of magic, so becoming a cheap imitation of someone else will only hurt the growth of your account. So see how you can arrange things to make them relevant and relatable to your particular niche audience!

Not using covers

I’ve seen some Reels with pics that make zero sense, like faces cut off or what seems like the middle of mouthing a word and all that mess! No need to fret! This is also another easy fix!

Remember that some people will find your Reels on the explore page and others will find it in your feed. So it’s gotta look visually appealing for them to click on it and watch it, that’s where having the right cover comes in handy!

You can maintain your feed aesthetics by creating your graphics in advance, choosing a photo you want to use as a cover. And even if you don’t want to do that, you can slide the bar and choose the frame within your Reels that looks good to use as your cover.

There you have it!

Now you can make these changes or avoid making these mistakes and you will see a big difference in the growth of your account! And remember, don’t be afraid to be unique. To be different is beautiful, so embrace it!
